Fatal fire in Mifflin Boro
Fri, Aug 4th, 2017 7:13:00 am -

8/4/17 @ 0713 - 1st alarm units were sent to Mifflin Boro, on Tuscarora Street, for a reported house fire. Box 3-01. Chief 31-2 (Lyter) arrived first reporting working fire with entrapment, 2 occupants unaccounted for. Truck 27 first in, Engine 22 right behind. Truck crew split, first grabbed the bumper line off E22, forced entry and got a hit on the fire, second entered the C side and crews began to search. Shortly after, interior crews discovered both victims and extricated them out of the structure. Unfortunately, neither survived. E32 dropped 5" to the river, T53 picked that up and supplied E12. MC Rescue 15 was assigned A side and laddered the structure. All other units were sidelined and manpower was sent to the scene. Crews worked for hours extinguishing hot spots and overhaul. Great work by all.

A huge thanks to Pastor Dan, Dave & Linda Groninger and all members present from the Trinity United Methodist Church across from the fire. They opened their doors to all responders, provided food, water and comfort during the entire operation.

Please keep all family and fire personnel in your prayers during this tragic time.
