1326 - Box 2-02

At 1326 units were sent to Walker Twp, E River Rd / Landis St in Mexico, for a vehicle that went thru the guide-rails and into the creek. Chief 2-1 (Hench) had command. EMS on scene confirmed truck was upside down in the creek with heavy entrapment. Chief Hench requested Rescue 8, Squad 1 and due to unsure creek conditions, 2 boats from Mifflin County 15 & 14. Crews found the truck down an approximate 40’ embankment. Ladders, ropes & tools were deployed from E River Rd for crews to descent down to the truck for extrication. R8 crews worked in from William Penn side. Extrication time was 17 minutes. Crews worked feverishly in those 17 minutes to extricate a very critical young man, in freezing waters. The teamwork by all these crews was impeccable to say the least. We’re happy to report, the young man is home and recovering, very lucky. MHC had 19 personnel on the call. Other depts that assisted: Squad 1 from Friendship Fire, Rescue 8 from Thompsontown, Boats/Utility from Junction and City Hook & Ladder, Port Royal EMS, CJEMS, PSP, Gray’s Towing, Parson’s Towing. Hats off to you all and thank you.
